First Open House for Historic Rosewell Property is This Week

August 9, 2016 – The first of five open houses to give interested parties a closer look at the historic Rosewell property is Thursday, August 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The property is located at 6900 Transylvania Avenue in eastern Jefferson County, and sits near the Ohio River. The two-story, hall-parlor house was built in the 1820’s and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It includes:

  • six bedrooms
  • four bathrooms
  • eight fireplaces
  • more than 7,200 square feet

The property sits on 4.5 acres and includes an additional 1.3 acres of adjacent, non-historic property for a total of nearly six acres of land. It was built in the 1820s, with a limestone addition in 1854.

The property was purchased by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) as part of the right-of-way acquisition for the East End Crossing portion of the Louisville – Southern Indiana Ohio River Bridges Project.1

The property is being sold by sealed bid, with a minimum bid reserve of $1,000,000. All bids must meet the reserve and must be received before the scheduled bid opening, which is set for Monday, October 3 at 1:30 p.m. Find more information about the property and the sales process at www.kytcproperty.com.

Four additional open houses will be held August 17, August 22, September 7 and September 14. All are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
