Basketball Fans from Across Kentucky Are Indy-Bound

Tolling is in place on two I-65 bridges and new SR 265 Lewis and Clark Bridge

March 16, 2017 –  Basketball fans from across Kentucky are making the drive to Indianapolis for opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament to see their teams in action. The University of Kentucky, University of Louisville and Northern Kentucky University play Friday. For many drivers, it will be their first trip across new and improved tolled bridges. All-electronic tolling on the Louisville – Southern Indiana Ohio River Bridges Project started in late December.

Tolled bridges include the two I-65 bridges connecting Downtown Louisville and Southern Indiana, the new Abraham Lincoln Bridge and the improved John F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge. The new Lewis and Clark Bridge connecting the Gene Snyder Freeway in Prospect, Ky. with State Road 265 in Utica, Ind. is also tolled.

Open a RiverLink Account to Pay Lowest Tolls

RiverLink is the name of the new tolling system. There’s no stopping, no slowing, no lines and no coin machines. Toll rates range from $2-$12, depending on the size of vehicle.  Drivers with transponders pay the lowest toll rates. It costs $2 to cross a tolled bridge in a passenger vehicle with a prepaid account and transponder, and $4 to cross a tolled bridge without an account and transponder.

Drivers can open a personal account online at www.RiverLink.com or by phone at 855-RIV-LINK. A personal account can include up to four vehicles, with a minimum balance of $20 to open the account. RiverLink transponders are mailed, free of charge, to account holders. The account balance rolls over month to month.

All E-ZPass transponders, including the I-PASS from Illinois and the Indiana Toll Road E-ZPass, work with the RiverLink system. No further action is necessary.

Drivers Without Accounts Receive Invoices
Drivers without transponders will get bills in the mail, and pay higher toll rates. The first RiverLink invoice includes only tolls owed. Bills can be paid online, by mail, by phone or in person at a RiverLink customer service center.

Drivers who do not pay their tolls on time will be charged additional fees and may face restrictions on vehicle registration until tolls and penalties are paid.

RiverLink Transponders

A RiverLink local transponder is free, one per registered vehicle. The small sticker adheres to the inside of windshield, is non-transferable and will work only on tolled bridges between Louisville and Southern Indiana.

A RiverLink E-ZPass transponder is $15 per transponder. It’s mounted on the inside of the windshield, is portable from vehicle to vehicle registered to a single account and works in all 16 E-ZPass states (http://ift.tt/29y8yfb).
