Downtown Crossing: Traffic Changes
The following closures and lane restrictions are expected this week and next week in connection with construction on the Downtown Crossing:
KENTUCKY SIDE:
Work scheduled for this week:

- The ramp from I-64 East to I-65 North is scheduled to close overnight this week (August 13-16) for demolition work in the area. It is scheduled to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day.
- One lane of I-64 East from 9th Street to Witherspoon Street is scheduled to be closed overnight this week (August 13-16) for demolition work in the area. It will close around 9 p.m.and reopen by 5 a.m. each day.
- The right lane of I-64 West to the I-65 South ramp from Witherspoon Street to Main Street is scheduled to close overnight this week (August 13-16) for demolition work in the area. It is scheduled to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day.
- The right lane of I-65 South from Jefferson Street to Muhammad Ali Boulevard is scheduled to close overnight this week (August 13-16) for work on temporary lighting. It is scheduled to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day.
LOUISVILLE STREETS:
- Daytime lane restrictions are expected on Witherspoon Street from Preston Street to Clay Street this week (August 13-16) for demolition work in the area. Restrictions are expected from around 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. One lane will be open in each direction.
- Witherspoon Street from Preston Street to Clay Street is scheduled to close overnight on Wednesday, August 14 for demolition work in the area. It’s scheduled to close around 8 p.m.and will reopen by 5 a.m.
- Daytime lane restrictions are expected on Main Street from Hancock Street to Jackson Street Thursday and Friday (August 15-16). Restrictions are expected from around 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.each day. One lane will be open in each direction.
INDIANA SIDE:
- The left lane of US 31-South is closed from under the Brown Station Way overpass and ending just north of Stansifer Avenue. The closure will continue this week as crews construct temporary pavement in the area.
KENTUCKY SIDE (Next Week):

- The ramp from I-64 East to I-65 North is scheduled to close overnight next week (August 19-23) for demolition work in the area. It is scheduled to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day.
- The left lane of I-64 East from 9th Street to Witherspoon Street is scheduled to close overnight next week (August 19-23) for demolition work in the area. It is scheduled to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day.
- The right lane of I-64 West to the I-65 South ramp from Witherspoon Street to Main Streetis scheduled to close overnight next week (August 19-23) for demolition work in the area. It is scheduled to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day.
- The ramp from I-71 South to I-64 West is scheduled to close overnight next Monday andTuesday (August 19-20) for temporary striping and the placement of temporary barrier wall in the area. It is scheduled to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. both days.
The actual starting date and duration for the work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur.
